AI has become the cyber world's new weapon! Google has detected the first AI-developed zero-day attack

Google has revealed that for the first time, an AI-assisted zero-day exploit was used in a cyberattack. According to GTIG, hackers are now using AI to create malware and hacking tools. The company stopped the attack in time and patched the software vulnerability.

Cyber attack by AI

Google has made a shocking revelation in the world of cybersecurity. The company's Google Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG) reported that for the first time, a zero-day exploit developed with the help of AI has been caught being used in a real cyber attack.

This matter is considered serious because hackers are no longer limited to phishing emails, but are also using the power of AI to develop advanced cyber weapons. Google managed to stop this threat in time, but the incident has raised concerns among tech companies and security agencies around the world.

AI is no longer just chatbots, it's also cyber weapons

According to a report by the Google Threat Intelligence Group, cybercriminals are no longer limiting their use of AI to simply generating text or crafting phishing emails.

Attackers are now using generative AI models to discover software vulnerabilities, create exploits, and develop malware that can easily circumvent security systems.

The report states that a threat actor used AI to create a zero-day exploit that could bypass two-factor authentication (2FA). This attack targeted a popular open-source web administration tool. Google discovered the vulnerability in time and, in collaboration with the company involved, patched it.

Clear signs of AI found in exploit code

According to Google, the exploit code revealed several clues that suggested it was created with the help of AI tools. The report stated that coding patterns, explanatory comments, and even the simulated vulnerability scoring format resembled the style of large language models (LLMs).

This clearly indicates that hackers are actively incorporating AI into their attacks. GTIG also noted that cybercriminals are rapidly developing new malware with the help of AI and are constantly modifying them to evade detection by security software. This evolution poses a new challenge to cybersecurity, as AI-based attacks can become smarter and faster than ever before.

Malware like Promptspy is increasing the threat

Google's report also mentions an AI-enabled malware called PROMPTSPY. According to the company, this malware can adapt its behavior based on understanding the state of the infected system.
